I feel good and happy because I played KF for UT2004 before it was a standalone game and before too many people knew about it.

I actually read into this and found out why you have to buy the whole game again to get one extra skin.

Basically Iceberg Interactive (the people currently selling the gold edition) really wanted a female character and so made one themselves.

Just to make the thanks to Iceberg quite clear - they all love the game so much that they actually commissioned the work to get a female character in game. They did all the voice work - we did some script tweaks and plugged the pieces together. So they get the exclusive box as a thanks. And now, we have the tech in place for us to produce female DLC for the rest of our lives. [Source]

So because they made the new character, Tripwire gave them the right to sell the game as a gold edition with their additional skin.

Okay, that the female char is exclusive to the retail sucks. Big times. Reason is simple - if you want that skin, you would need to rebuy the game, create a new account using that new game and then start from zero with your stats.

I hope that people, who already own the game, can also get it somehow. Maybe buying a "gold DLC"-upgrade or something, if they don't get it free.

Indeed, but i bealeve TripWire will get loads of angry mail because of this, and if you have to buy new game, sell it to your friend or trade for TF2 items/keys/ other games

Or they could just sell that character as new DLC (maybe with three other girls) later on... Or add it free to the Outbreak DLC (as THAT DLC still costs more than any other DLC. 1.80€/1.80$ for that VS 1.50€/1.50$ for the rest. Means it costs 20% more than the others)
